What

Dear Members- For the past two years, we have been organizing a series of roundtables with the Minister of Health and significant healthcare institutions and associations. Our purpose has been to discuss key issues facing the sector, and to build some consensus on how to reform healthcare in ways that improve health, not just cut costs. Given that political instability likely will continue into the future, we now intend 1) to broaden the political participation in the seminar and 2) to unify private sector associations behind a some key positions so that some momentum for effective reform can be built and sustained until completion. We now want to meet with AmCham members to discuss and develop these themes. We propose Health Care Committee meeting on July 8, 9am at AmCham offices. Once we have internal agreement, we plan on meeting with associations to build a wide coalition. At the same time, we will hold a roundtable with political and institutional stakeholders to raise these two topics. If all goes according to plan, we would like to hold a public conference this fall on the future of health care that outlines our themes and policy priorities. We will need your input and assistance in achieving this ambitious goal.
