The Czech Republic in the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2011 by the U.S. Department of State
On 24 May the U.S. Department of State released the Country on Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2011, which contains also information about the Czech Republic. As insufficient in the area of human rights are considered: discrimination against the country’s Roma population, official corruption, violence against women, sexual and other abuse of children, anti-semitism, prison overcrowding, delays in the delivery of justice or discrimination against labor unions and migrant workers. According to the report despite of effort to implement relevant law, the official corruption in Czech Republic stays as a long-term issue. Delays in the delivery of justice are caused by complicated procedural rules and lack of specialists in the Czech justice.
