2009 Czech Competitiveness Report
The Council on Czech Competitiveness presents the 1st annual Competitiveness Report, a groundbreaking index of the country’s performance within Central Europe and among its fellow EU economies. You can click here to access a Czech or English version.
The report consists of a statistical assessment of economic policy in six areas:
- general performance
- legal framework
- public administration
- physical infrastructure
- human resources
- fiscal/monetary
The score in each area is determined by the country’s performance to the EU average and is compared with a benchmarking group that includes its closest neighbors in Central Europe, and its aspirational target, the Netherlands.
The report also contains the first in-depth survey of senior executives‘ views on the performance of policy. This survey tallies the opinions of over 300 top decision-makers, and covers the same areas of economic policy as the statistical assessment.
The Council, and the Report, are the result of co-operation between the Nordic, German, American, Dutch and British Chambers of Commerce. As a result of the conclusions in the Report, the Council will form task forces to work in each policy area. The priorities will be:
1) Public Administration Efficiency.
2) Energy Efficiency
3) Communications Quality and Penetration
4) Research & Development- Commercialization of Knowledge.
If you are interested in joining any of these task forces, or would like to suggest other priority areas, please contact Weston Stacey at wstacey@amcham.cz .
