Jan Matějček of White & Case has become a new member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in the CR
The Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in the CR (AmCham) has a new member. Jan Matějček, Managing Partner of White & Case law firm, has become a new support of AmCham board. He has replaced Mike Short of Plzeňský Prazdroj who had resigned because of his departure to Great Britain.
Matějček´s priority within the AmCham will be the legal reform area, mostly legislative and regulatory changes. „White & Case has nominated me to represent our firm, our principles, and our culture, to share our know-how for the benefit of the AmCham members and to further demonstrate our commitment to this organization and its goals,“ Matějček said.
In the course of its long presence in Prague, White & Case supported AmCham in many ways improving the Czech business environment. Some of the most visible elements include: drafting the new Insolvency Act, the Commercial Register Act or the new Labor Code.
Jan Matějček is a corporate lawyer with wide ranging experience in mergers and acquisition transactions and infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector. He participated in numerous transactions in the Czech Republic and elsewhere in Central Europe, representing both international as well as domestic parties. He is a member of the Czech Bar and of the Bar of Province of Ontario, Canada.
Jan Matějček has been the Managing Partner of the Prague office since 1994 and in 2008 became the Managing Partner of the CEE / CIS region of White & Case and a member of its Partnership Committee. He speaks English, Czech and German fluently and is currently studying Russian.
He is a member of the Supervisory Board of VIZE ‘97 Foundation.
