2015 Thanksgiving Ball - reserve your Corporate table or Individual tickets now!

American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic invites all members to the 2015 Thanksgiving Ball, which will be held on November 21st at Zofin Palace in Prague.

The AmCham Thanksgiving Ball is one of the highlights of Prague’s social calendar with over 500 top businesspeople in attendance that is held annually in the wonderful Zofin Palace. The traditional 3-course Thanksgiving dinner is a big part of the Thanksgiving Ball. Then it continues with dance at the Grand Hall, Silent Auction at the Small Hall, Jazz Lounge at the area of the Garden and Future of Prague.

Thanksgiving Ball Silent Auction - Nomination of projects for 2015

In 2015, AmCham Board proposed to dedicate funds (CZK 200,000) raised during the auction in 2014 for projects which:

  • use digital technology to increase public access and participation in local communities and
  • support high school and university students’ using technology to solve community problems.

We plan to allocate it in November to promote donations to this year’s Auction. How CSR Committee Members/all AmCham members can participate:

  1. Help us identify and develop projects for Silent Auction donations – please suggest project by sending an email at
  2. Send us short description of the project, school/NGO/town involved in the project, why you recommend this project/why this project should be selected. Send us contacts/email contact/phone to school/project coordinator.

Conference Public Procurement of Medical Devices and Technologies in Hospitals on September 22

On September 22, AmCham together with CzechMed organized Conference Public Procurement of Medical Devices and Technologies in Hospitasl, which held about 200 attendees. In the keynote speech by Jaroslav Kracún - Legal Officer, DG Internal Market & Services, European Commission, he addressed Procurement of quality with consideration of sustainable development under the new Directive 2014/24/EU. Foreign speakers - Yvan Cox - Manager of the Material Management, University Hospitals Leuven and Geert Heyrman - Head of procurement and logistics department, GasthuisZusters Antwerpen together with representatives of Czech ministries, health care companies and hospitals procurement professionals delivered opinions and ideas and had discussions on public procurement and how to buy health care devices and technologies effectively in terms of price and quality.

Nominations for AmCham Wings Awards 2015 - until October 20th.

AmCham members have a unique opportunity to nominate outstanding Community Leaders for the annual AmCham Wings Awards.

  1. AmCham Wings for AmCham member - please nominate an individual who has made significant contributions to AmCham activities in the course of 2015. These acts should have brought a benefit to the AmCham as well as business community as a whole. The time and talents of AmCham members are what make the organization thrive. Without the voluntary efforts of dozens of members throughout the year, our organization would not be able to advocate new reforms, organize insightful seminars, and make the connections that bring greater prosperity to the country.
  2. AmCham Wings for a Community Leader - please nominate a person whose activities have improved the condition of community life in the Czech Republic and had a positive impact on the public. It should be non-political individual, regardless AmCham membership.

  • One copy of the publication will be sent to companies which won´t specify their interest in receiving the publication. This copy will be sent directly to company GM/CEO.

Summer Committee pique-nique

On July 30th members of AmCham Committees (Business & Finance, CSR, IT, HR, Marketing & Communications and Real Estate) spent the morning in the gardens of The Mark Luxury Hotel Prague to enjoy the sun and to spend some non-business time together.

As usually the Bake your own Cake contest took place. This year dominated by women. Attendees of the pique-nique evaluated Lenka Nova´s (Squire Patton Boggs) cake as the most delicious one.

Best Cooperation of the Year 2015: Call for projects by August 28

We are pleased to inform you that the Association for Foreign Investment, the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, in cooperation with the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, are getting set to announce the fifth annual Best Cooperation of the Year awards. Within the competition, awards are presented in the area of cooperation between the research and application spheres leading to innovation as well as successful transfers of technologies and knowledge. The deadline for registering projects and transfers in the competition is 28th of August 2015. The grand-prize winner will receive a financial award in the amount of CZK 100,000. Michal Nebeský of Citibank re-elected to serve as a president of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic in 2015-16

During the annual General Assembly held on June 18, 2015 at National Technical Museum in Prague , Michal Nebeský, Citibank Country Officer for Czech Republic,  was re-elected to serve as the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic (AmCham). Last year Nebeský succeeded former AmCham president Dan Tok when he became the Minister of Transport.

Newly elected members of the Board of Directors to serve 2015-2017

In the past four weeks, AmCham membership elected 9 new members of the 17-member board for a two-year term. Cinco de Mayo - Business Networking Evening

AmCham and CzechMex celebrated together Cinco the Mayo.

On May 27 more than 130 guests from both Chambers met at Obcanska plovarna at Business Networking Evening organized together by the American  & Czech-Mexican Chambers of Commerce.

2015 Board of Directors Elections: Candidates Profiles & Voting Information

The Board of Directors consists of 17 member representatives elected by the membership. Directors serve two-year terms with no limit on the number of terms served.

Luncheon with Pavel Bělobrádek on April 23, 2015

AmCham members met at Luncheon with Pavel Belobrádek, Deputy Prime Minister for the Science, Research and Innovation, Leader of KDU-CSL on April 23, 2015. Pavel Belobrádek summarized his opinions and ideas on research and development, possible future development of the Czech Republic in area of R&D in his key note speech, shared views on trends in science and then answered questions from the audience. As a background document Amcham summarized policies we believe will increase the country’s economic potential, either by increasing the capabilities of the country’s people or by improving the efficiency with which government provides services and makes investments. AmCham Announcement: Board of Directors Nominating Period Open

Nominations for seats on the 2015-17 Board of Directors open this week. All members who are representatives of members in good standing may be nominated or apply. Any member representative can nominate another member representative, or themselves. Nominations must be received by email ( or post (AmCham, Dusni 10, 110 00 Praha 1) by 5.00pm, Friday, April 24.

The schedule of the election is proposed as follows:

  • April 6 – April 24: nomination period
  • May 11 – June 5: Balloting (4 weeks)
  • June 18: 23rd General Assembly

AmCham committees have defined major areas which will be covered in this year´s publication issue. Overall publication theme for 2015-16 is ENGAGEMENT. Any member company can participate on the preparation of publication´s content – best through attending one of AmCham Best Office committees where all details are being discussed and proposals made. Final material will be published and distributed as usually in September 2015. Check the last year´s issue HERE.

Member companies can also advertise their products and services in the publication. Publication is distributed all around the Czech Republic through member companies, potential members, Czech Regional Business Chambers, Regional Development Agencies, Regional CzechInvests, Trade Offices or Business Incubators.
