7th Regional Tax Conference will be held on March 6, 2012, in Prague
7th Regional Tax Conference, this year hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, will be held on March 6, 2012, in Prague, Czech Republic. The annual tax conference brings together experts from around the CEE region to discuss the results of past reforms and debate the merits of planned reforms at the national and European level.
The conference will be attended by businesspeople and both public and private sectors’ tax experts working in Central Europe. Tentative program with the invitation is attached.

AmCham issues for 2012_short survey
Each year, AmCham addresses 3-5 issues that influence the socio-economic progress of the Czech Republic. These issues are suggested by the members and the staff, and approved by the board. The board decision is based on the level of priority and a clear and achievable plan of action, as well as AmCham’s ability and capacity to influence progress in that area. As a business organization, our focus is on projects with an economic aspect in which a number of members have an expertise that can contribute to the solution.

Nearly CZK 550.000,- for AmCham charity project called One World, Many Voices; AmCham Wings award has its first winners
On Saturday, November 19, AmCham held the traditional Thanksgiving Ball at Žofín Palace. The evening had a spirit of social responsibility: for the chamber´s charity project CZK 547.200,- was raised and the first-ever AmCham Wings Award went to Daniel Weinhold of Weinhold Legal and Dan Ťok of Skanska.

At this year’s Thanksgiving Ball, we will be recognizing these acts of social responsibility by awarding the first annual Wings Award for a member who has made significant contributions to AmCham activities in the course of 2011. These acts should not only have brought a benefit to the AmCham, but to the business community as a whole.

AmCham held a conference on Transparent Lobbying: How to achieve it?
Restrictions of special interests and monopolization of the process as a way to transparent lobbying.
On October 25, 2011, a conference on Transparent lobbying, organized by AmCham together with Senate and Inventura demokracie, was held in the Senate. The conference focused on direct connections of business, nonprofit and political spheres in the legislative process, public procurement and political party financing.

American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic supported selected Pilsen´s elementary schools total amount CZK 445.000,-
On Tuesday, October 18, 2011, AmCham symbolically handed over interactive whiteboards to language laboratories of 9 Pilsen´s elementary schools and expanded the reach of its CSR project "One World, Many Voices" to the next regional city - Pilsen. Discussion of AmCham members together with the city and elementary schools representatives on possibilities of wider cooperation among companies, city and schools was held.

Best Cooperation of the Year and Česká inovace 2011 cooperate
The Best Cooperation of the Year, a competition organized by AmCham and AFI, established in 2010, has become part of the Česká inovace 2011 contest. Its aim is to promote, highlight and reward the Czech companies and individuals who have innovative idea and enterpreneurial spirit. AmCham and AFI now administer and give award in one of the contest categories - the best examples of cooperation between universities and the industry. Best Cooperation of the Year Competition: AmCham and AFI announce call for projects
The Best Cooperation of the Year is a competition organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic (AmCham), the Association for Foreign Investment (AFI) and in partnership with the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. The purpose of the competition is to reward and promote the best joint projects conducted by universities and the application sphere in the area of research and development leading to innovation.
The deadline for submission of projects is October 10, 2011.
